UFC® 176… scrapped

For the second time in less than two years, the UFC has been forced to cancel a pay-per-view.
UFC 176, scheduled for next month in Los Angeles, has been scrapped. Promotion officials announced the news Tuesday night at UFC.com.
The card was set for Aug. 2 at Staples Center and was supposed to feature a featherweight title headliner between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Chad Mendes, a rematch of a main event at UFC 142 in Brazil. But Aldo suffered an injury, it was announced this past week, taking him out of the card.
Without a suitable headliner, and now with less than a month before the fight, the decision was made to postpone the event – though the promotion said the numbering scheme for already scheduled pay-per-views after it, including UFC 177 in Sacramento on Aug. 30, will remain the same.
The UFC said the fights scheduled for UFC 176 will be shifted to other upcoming cards.
