Anderson Silva headed into surgery immediately after fight

According to one of Silva’s managers, Jorge Guimaraes, Silva will be transferred to a Las Vegas hotel Sunday evening where he is expected to stay “a day or two.” The former UFCmiddleweight champion will then return to his home in Los Angeles.
“He’s fine,” Guimaraes said when asked how Silva was doing. “Just sad and in pain.”
“The successful surgery, performed by Dr. Steven Sanders, the UFC’s orthopedic surgeon, inserted an intramedullary rod into Anderson’s left tibia,” the statement read. “The broken fibula was stabilized and does not require a separate surgery.”
