Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman in the works for Aug. 18
The title fight, which Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker tentatively confirmed this past month, takes place Aug. 18 in San Diego.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the date and location, which MMAFighting.com first reported.
The event, which includes a main card on Showtime and prelims on Showtime Extreme, likely will take place at Valley View Casino Center, which has hosted two previous Strikeforce shows.
Rousey recently won the title with a first-round armbar-submission victory over rival Miesha Tate in March. In eight fights (three amateur and five professional), the Olympic bronze-medal judoka has yet to see the second round. She had submitted all of her opponents with armbars.
Recently, the fan favorite has been busy with a host of PR commitments. In April, she lobbied on behalf of Strikeforce parent company Zuffa to legalize MMA in New York, and she’s expected to appear this fall in ESPN’s “The Body Issue.”
