BJ Penn: “…I accept your challenge”
by Michael Anderson
Earlier in the week popular MMA interviewer Ariel Helwani caught up with Rory McDonald. Rory stated, “Right now I feel there’s a guy that I want to fight before he leaves the sport and that’s B.J. Penn… He’s a legend and I think it’d be a really good matchup for me to have that fight in Toronto.” It didn’t take long before BJ responded, “Rory, I accept your challenge”
Not to take anything away from Rory, but BJ gets nothing from this fight. With recent challenges coming from Gilbert Melendez, Josh Koscheck and Anthony Pettis. I’m not sure why he chose this one. But at least he’s fighting!
BJ’s Last fight was against Nick Diaz at UFC 137. Diaz won the fight by forcing BJ against the cage and ground out a decision victory. At the end of that fight BJ stated that he was retiring and thanked the fans. A couple of weeks later he changed his mind and decided he was taking time off instead. All that’s left now is for the two of them to put it in writing and sign on the dotted line. GOOD LUCK BJ! Although I’m sure he wont need it.
